The Buckeye Central Bucks totally dominated Plymouth 38-0 in a week three non-league matchup at Buckeye Central High School. The Dutchtown fans were treated to a 35-0 halftime lead as the Bucks improved to 2-1 on the season. Plymouth fans to 0-3. Buckeye Central head coach Mike Tracey has lead this Buckeye Central program to a 1995 state-runner up performance, losing to St. Henry 10-7 in the state title game. Tracey usually likes to "grind-it-out" offensively but this year has a talented quarterback in Josh Gebhardt. The junior completed 12 of 21 passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions vs. Plymouth. Gebhardt tossed touchdown passes to Ryan Feichtner and Chad Burger in the first half. Buckeye Central was lead in rushing by Feichtner, who had 82 yards on 13 carries. Fullback Adam Fritz had 60 yards on 11 carries and two touchdowns. A brightspot for the Plymouth Big Red was tailback Nick Keaton, who had 165 yards on 30 carries. Keaton was the only offensive highlight for Plymouth, who had six turnovers and 13 yards passing. The Big Red had 174 yards total offense. Plymouth finished 1-9 last year in the Firelands Conference and unless they muster more offense will find things difficult again this year. Buckeye Central was 3-7 last year and enters North Central Conference league play next week at Mt. Blanchard Riverdale. Both Buckeye Central and Riverdale are expected to contend for the NCC title. Other contenders include Ontario, Wynford, and possibly Crestline. The 2001 NCC race promises to be wide-open. The Mad Hungarian |
