The 4-2 Clayton Northmont Thunderbolts host their northern neighbor Troy 5-1 in a game that will likely determine their playoff fate for both teams. If Beltless, the T’Bolts will probably be sitting at home during the season ending tournament.

The Thunderbolts bitten by the injury bug must be wondering, why us. Northmont entered the season led by their highly recruited quarterback Clay Belton with high hopes and a legitimate opportunity to venture deep into the Region IV playoffs.

But before the season even began they lost their star running back to a broken leg. Still they opened the season with four consecutive victories including a very emotional upset victory at cross-town rival Centerville.

Next came another southern neighbor the seemingly always-underachieving Miamisburg Vikings. The T’Bolts struggled to a slim victory over the Vikings after their field general left the game early with damage to his throwing hand. The injury was later diagnosed as a broken thumb.

The Thunderbolts with their quarterback sidelined suffered devastating defeats over the next two weeks.

The demoralized team is hoping for the return of their field general for the game with the Trojans. The Trojans however, always good sports, want their opponents at full strength must be quietly wishing the T’Bolts return to full strength after their game with them.
